Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance, the Quality Assurance Technician/Live Receiver performs various functions within the QA Department including Live Bird receiving, Pre-Op, monitoring, verification, validation of the HACCP System and BRC system, data entry and design of forms and interfaces. Monitors and inspects live birds, products, materials, equipment, and production facilities to comply with Sofina Quality programs and specifications, to excel customer expectations ensuring compliance with CFIA regulations. Technicians are required to always follow all written Standard Operating Procedures and protocols.
Main Duties
- Perform Live bird receiving while adhering to related SOP's and take corrective actions when needed;
- Perform Quality Assurance checks such as Pre-op, swabbing, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) monitoring, pre-shipment reviews. Release production areas after pre-op, pre-requisite checks, conformity of finished products throughout the manufacturing process, performs internal audits, records and analyses test results, lab testing and trends, data entry;
- Train the required personnel at the Plant (i.e. production, quality, shipping, maintenance, sanitation etc.) on quality, sanitation and animal welfare requirements;
- Performs occasional assigned project work to solve problems or improve quality, food safety, animal welfare and Sanitation.
Requirements
- College diploma/certificate in science related field (Food Science, Biotechnology, etc.) OR related experience in poultry field;
- Strong knowledge of sanitation, GMP, Quality regulatory requirements and systems, animal welfare is an asset;
- Strong analytical and organizational skills;
- Ability to think critically and able to take corrective actions when required;
- Proficient skill in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing;
- Strong leadership and communication skills.

Hiring Range $51,158 - $63,948
Please note that the hiring range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sofina. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, skillset of the candidate and internal equity.
