Shop Manager

Our client is an established custom equipment and component manufacturer with over 25 years of history. They are looking for a Shop Manager to join their team at their Mississauga location.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Schedule workflow to meet delivery dates. Look ahead and have a good grasp of what is coming up, and plan ahead. Communicate the schedule to the Supervisor Lead and Purchasing Manager for them to schedule their responsibilities to meet the overall goals.
  • Work closely with the shop checker for in process and incoming materials, welders, BOM puller, passivation department, and shipping department, making sure all processes, equipment, and personnel are running efficiently, safely, and that all equipment is in good running order.
  • Constantly be in a training mode and be aware of the work quality of each department.
  • Prepare shipping lists as required and make sure personnel are aware of what and when orders are expected to be completed.
  • Mentor specific employees to become well trained lead hands.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager in communicating order statuses. efficiency.
  • Process work order drawings daily
  • Responsible for master schedule and shipping schedule
  • Inspect incoming materials (specialty machined or detailed items)
  • Oversee Welding department, Screen department, Passivation department, and Shipping department

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of management/leadership experience in a shop environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a similar manufacturing industry
