Salary:
Classification 12 $ $30.17 per hour. Benefits include: 59.50 vacation hours annually (pro-rated and front loaded), extended health and dental benefits after 6 months of employment, leave entitlements for family and personal illness, medical appointments, and other special leaves. Christmas closure is paid time off from December 25 – January 1 each year.
This position receives an additional $0.67 per hour for Chetwynd isolation allowance.
Ideal Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm
Description:
Financial Aid Officers provide guidance to new and returning students on budgeting, financial assistance programs (including loans, awards, and grants), funding eligibility and selection criteria, and student loan repayment options.
Working as part of a regional team, Financial Aid Officers support students throughout the financial aid process. They meet with students and their supporters to assess financial circumstances and provide advice on available assistance to help offset the costs of post-secondary education.
Key responsibilities include:
- Administering financial aid programs in accordance with established policies and criteria.
- Liaising with provincial and federal student loan agencies.
- Entering and maintaining accurate student data in reporting systems to confirm and manage eligibility.
- Receiving, processing, and coding loan, grant, award, and scholarship applications.
- Verifying preliminary eligibility criteria and making recommendations for award and grant approval.
- Developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of financial aid sources, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Successful completion of a one-year certificate (minimum 30 credits) in Business Management or Applied Business Technology (or equivalent).
- One-year related experience in lending, banking, or financial management.
- Experience and proficiency with a current version of MS Office Suite.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, including meeting deadlines and working effectively in a team.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise tact, diplomacy, discretion, and sensitivity is essential.
- Current and valid driver's license (some travel may be necessary).
