About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Network Engineer, the Network Engineer will play a key role in operating and maintaining our data center network environments while supporting both construction and operational activities. This is a hands-on technical position that combines network operations, infrastructure support, and project delivery in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Management & Optimization: Oversee and maintain all network systems within the data centers, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Rapidly identify and resolve network-related issues to minimize downtime and maintain optimal operations.
  • Hardware Maintenance: Supervise the upkeep and configuration of network hardware, including switches and firewalls.
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor network performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability and speed.
  • Security Oversight: Maintain robust network security protocols to prevent unauthorized access and data breaches.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with third-party service providers for specialized support and solutions.
  • Project Management: Plan and execute network-related projects, such as upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
  • Infrastructure Development: Support the design and evolution of IT and network infrastructure strategies.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed operational procedures and workflows.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure network availability and rapid response to incidents.
  • Construction Support: Provision and configure switches during data center construction to ensure network reliability at energization.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all activities are performed safely and in accordance with site and equipment standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (computer systems, networking, troubleshooting, or repair) is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a network engineering or related role—ideally within a data center or similar operational environment.
  • Core networking skills (CCNA or equivalent) required.
  • Computer troubleshooting skills (CompTIA A+ or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience building or leading teams responsible for maintenance and repair of computer hardware.
  • Fortinet certifications or experience (FortiGate, FortiSwitch) highly desirable.
  • Candidates with transferable experience from Cisco Nexus or Firepower product lines are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Knowledge of data center components such as fiber optics, network switches, and PDUs is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Proven problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours as required.
  • High attention to detail, safety awareness, and a proactive, energetic attitude.
