General Machinist

Career Summary:

-Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce large and small precision parts.

-Make and modify parts to repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying mechanical concepts, mathematics, layout, and machining procedures.

Job Type:

-Full-time

Experience:

-3-5 years of general machining a must.

Job Responsibilities:

-Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.

-Machine parts to specifications using lathes, vertical and horiontal boring mills, milling machines, or grinders.

-Measure, examine, and report on completed units in order to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision tooling.

-Inspect sample parts, assist developing drawings, to determine sequences of operations needed to machine products.

Skills and Requirements:

-Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables.

-Repair machine tools and parts.

-Set up and adjust machines/tools.

-Fit and assemble components and machine parts to required tolerance.

-Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments.

-Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.

-Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.

-Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).

-Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.

-Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional machines.

-Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces

-Must supply basic tools for machining.
