Oxford Learning Richmond has an opening for an upbeat, passionate, committed, enthusiastic, and dynamic French teacher who seeks work in a rewarding teaching environment. Our French Programs offer individual support to students looking to improve their academic skills and study habits. Candidates must possess a strong passion for seeing students succeed and must be comfortable teaching students ranging in age from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in French.

Tutor-teachers at Oxford Learning do not have to lesson plan before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning work during after-school and evening hours (3:30pm - 8:30pm) as well as some Saturdays (9:30am - 3:30pm). A commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred. Your students will love working with you, and being reliable is a must.

Candidates must possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English and be comfortable teaching up to a Grade 9 level, but up to Grade 12 is preferred. The candidate is required to instruct class sessions in French.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education:

Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant fieldFourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be consideredTeaching certification an assetGood knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 French core curriculum

Experience:

Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) levelStrong English written and oral communication skillsStrong French skills and ability to guide students' understandingAbility to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levelsTeaching online and in-personFollowing the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophiesFilling in post-lesson notesCompleting daily student communication updatesMaintaining a friendly and professional manner at all timesHave fun

Job Type: Part-time

Salary Range: $19 - $21 / hour
