student intern, Indigenous Relations
to join our team to help implement our Indigenous Relations strategy and advance our reconciliation efforts.

In this role, you will be supporting the Senior Manager, Indigenous Relations with forging strong connections between WorkSafeBC and Indigenous communities. This is a
four-month
temporary opportunity starting in January 2026.

Where you'll work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.

This role can be based in either Richmond or Kelowna, British Columbia.

On Day 1 in this role, you will get a chance to meet your manager and get acquainted with your team. You will spend time setting up administrative and technological essentials, and completing onboarding tasks, including security and payroll setup.

During your first week you will engage in a comprehensive onboarding program designed to equip you for success. You will be partnering and meeting with your manager to discuss your goals and align them with the team's vision. Additionally, you will learn how our department contributes to the overall business strategy and supports the organization's mandate. You will also work through the onboarding program alongside your supervisor for added guidance and support.

Your Daily Responsibilities Include

  • Community outreach and engagement: Act as a representative on behalf of WorkSafeBC and attend related community outreach events and engagement opportunities.
  • Relationship building: Establish and strengthen meaningful relationships with Indigenous workers, employers, providers, and communities.
  • Project: Contribute to various initiatives by the Indigenous Relations department, including project management.
  • Team and administrative support: Serve as a vital resource for the team on offering administrative support including maintaining and updating documents.

Your Background And Experience

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office software suite, including Excel and Word
  • Previous co-op or relevant work experience in an office environment is preferred
