Canadian Lynden Transport is looking for a welder.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

(Other duties may be assigned)

  • Preform welding and fabricating on highway trucks, local trucks, trailers, yard equipment and shop equipment
  • Rebuild or replace defective parts
  • Work with air brake systems on trailers
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and air systems
  • Work on a variety of different trailers: vans, flat decks, step decks, goose neck and curtains
  • Sets up and operates drill press, mag drill, plasma cutter, oxy acetylene torch, miter saw, grinders, welders and other tools
  • Reads job order and determines work procedures
  • Performs basic computer functions by completing job work orders using Transman Fleet Equipment Maintenance System, recording materials used, type of work accomplished, and maintenance system codes
  • Complies with all company safety policies, including use of protective equipment and Fit for Work
  • Attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position

Education and/or Experience:

One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and speak sufficiently to converse with co-workers, supervisors and managers, to understand procedures and warning signs, to respond to inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to understand detailed written and oral instructions
  • Ability to apply common sense and the ability to prioritize and problem-solve in time/safety-sensitive situations.
  • Ability to provide objective and decisive action(s) necessary to resolve any/all issues with minimal disruption to operational performance.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
