Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced General Accountant to manage full-cycle accounting activities, including month-end and year-end closings, reconciliations, tax filings, and financial reporting. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of financial information, while supporting cross-functional teams with accounting expertise and analysis. Key Responsibilities
- Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation and review of reconciliations and journal entries.
- Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries (accruals, prepayments, payroll, and other adjustments).
- Prepare and review bank, intercompany, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Perform and record foreign currency transactions in accordance with ASPE guidelines.
- Review trial balances to identify, investigate, and correct unusual or abnormal transactions.
- Conduct accounting analyses for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and related reconciliations.
- Prepare month-end financial schedules, reconciliations, and management reports.
- Maintain and update the Chart of Accounts to ensure alignment with business and reporting requirements.
- Support year-end audit processes and prepare audit schedules and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of sales tax returns, including HST and other provincial retail sales taxes.
- Prepare weekly cash flow, monthly revenue analyses, and cost of sales analysis reports and sales commission calculations.
- Provide accounting support and information to various departments, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial transactions.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience is required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems or ERP software.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to prioritize multiple deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and demonstrates a high level of professionalism.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when required.
Preferred Assets:
- CPA designation or working toward certification.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, security-focused organization.
- Familiarity with Canadian and U.S. financial regulations and tax compliance.
Additional:
- Full time Hybrid min 3 days in office and first 3 months 5 days in office with 3-month probation.
