Job description

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will assist clients with daily tasks as required while

providing a safe and comfortable environment for the client.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Follow care plan to ensure client receives assistance with daily tasks as well as

emotional, physical and spiritual support in a safe environment.

  • Use formal training and education to carry out specific procedures for each client, which

    may include feeding and special dietary restrictions; administering oxygen; giving

    medication; bathing; skin, hair and mouth care; bowel and bladder care, and so on.

  • Ensures all Health and Safety protocols are met and notifies immediate supervisor when

    there is cause for concern.

  • Maintains client and corporate confidentiality.

  • Ensures accurate documentation of client condition, reports concerning changes in

    condition to immediate supervisor.

  • Ensures infection prevention practices are implemented according to FirstLight Home

    Care standards

  • Participates in continuing education activities.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license and reliable car

  • Personal Support Worker diploma or equivalent

-Negative T.B. skin test or chest x-ray

-Current CPR (BCLS) and First Aid Certificate-

  • Meet health surveillance requirements of the Public Hospitals Act

-Clear criminal history/record of the candidate

-Vaccination Report Required

-Must be at least 18 years of age

-Proficient verbal and written English communication skills

-Ability to speak a second language is considered an asset
