Job Description:

HR Project Partners (HRPP) is currently hiring a Communications Specialist on behalf of our Client, Mining Industry NL. In this key role, you will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities, strengthening industry partnerships, and leading impactful communications initiatives. From developing strategic plans to hosting stakeholder events and enhancing public relations, you'll play a pivotal part in expanding Mining Industry NL's influence across the provincial, national, and international mining sectors. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional passionate about industry engagement, strategic communication, and driving meaningful change in Newfoundland and Labrador's mining landscape.

This is a full-time role, based in St. John's, NL.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement strategic communications and fund development plans to support organizational growth and sustainability.
  • Proactively seek and secure funding through strategic outreach, proposal development, and relationship-building with potential donors and partners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funding bodies, government agencies, and philanthropic organizations.
  • Leverage existing relationships within the industry to grow Mining NL's influence and impact.
  • Plan and execute networking events, programs, and services that engage key stakeholders.
  • Assist in creating and executing Mining NL's strategic plan, prioritizing programs and services that address industry needs.
  • Consult with Mining NL members and industry stakeholders to identify current challenges and develop solutions.
  • Foster strong partnerships within the provincial, national, and international mining sectors.
  • Manage communications and marketing efforts, including overseeing the development of content for newsletters, social media, and reports.
  • Lead public relations initiatives to enhance the association's visibility and credibility within the industry, government and other key stakeholders.
  • Leverage various media to disseminate key messages and industry developments.
  • Plan and manage events, conferences, and forums to promote networking, knowledge sharing and engagement.
  • Oversee member communications, ensuring timely updates and engagement on industry trends and policy changes.
  • Monitor and report on emerging trends, legislation, and technologies impacting the mining sector.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in communications and/or public relations.
  • Experience in fund development, grant writing, or sponsorship acquisition is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategies to grow funding streams and generate revenue.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills, with experience engaging diverse industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in event planning and project management.
  • Knowledge of the mining industry or resource sector is an asset.
