Binnie is looking for a Construction Surveyor with expertise in infrastructure construction survey to join our Construction Services team which provides engineering construction services.
From reconstruction and repairing, widening and moving roads, drainage planning and stormwater systems, to new roads, interchanges, overpasses, and bridge approaches. You will work on a variety of construction upgrade projects in the Southern Interior Region.
This position is a full-time field-based position with a competitive compensation package and opportunities for career advancement. You will be an integral part of the team.
YOUR ROLE:
• Mainly working on projects around the Southern Interior.
• Validate existing Primary Survey Control and if necessary, set additional control points.
• Liaise with client, supervisor, inspection staff and contractor field representatives to understand the full scope of survey work required on the project and ensure it is done to the required specifications and survey scope of the project.
• Complete the layout of lines and grades for Day Labour construction.
• Collect and download data using the appropriate equipment and send it to a CAD Technician for processing.
• Prepare red-line/as-built drawings as required by the Project Supervisor.
• Ensure field notes/data is downloaded and filed in the appropriate project folder.
• Developing and maintaining client relationships.
• Training and mentoring Survey Assistants.
• Understand and comply with the Binnie Safety Program and all safety policies, safe work practices, safe job procedures and safety rules.
WHAT YOU BRING:
• A degree or technical diploma in Geomatics.
• Minimum of five years of construction surveying experience.
• Minimum of two years of construction survey related experience as a Lead Surveyor.
• Ability to understand terrain models and to extract volumes, quantities and other information from survey data.
• Extensive working knowledge of highway survey, engineering survey layout and quality assurance surveying.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of surveying techniques, practices and equipment including trigonometry, coordinating geometry, and horizontal and vertical alignments.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D.
• Strong working knowledge of Trimble Business Center or similar software suites for processing/analyzing QA survey pickup, processing monthly progress quantities, etc.
• Strong working knowledge of desktop productivity applications such as Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent.
• Knowledge of general construction practices.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand design drawings and plans.
• Extensive experience using relevant tools and instruments including GPS survey .
equipment, Total Station robotic survey instruments, data collectors and levels.
• Eligibility for registration as AScT or C.Tech with ATTBC or as a survey student (ss) or Land Surveyor in Training (LST) with ABCLS preferred.
• Understanding of MoTT highway and MMCD construction standards, and specifications preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead and work effectively in a team in an environment where teamwork is key to success.
• Willing and able to work outside in periods of inclement weather and diverse terrain and travel throughout BC and work away from home for periods of time as per project requirements.
• Valid driver's license.
