We are AWMAC award winning, and LEED certified and educated in the Disney Approach to quality service and have produced millwork in over 1600 construction projects internationally, 1000 of which in the greater Toronto area alone.

We are looking for a talented and detail-driven CAD Detailer/Drafter to play a key role in bringing award-winning custom millwork to life. Working from architects' and designers' renderings, you will create precise, production-ready shop drawings that guide our skilled cabinetmakers in delivering exceptional, high-quality results. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of materials used in the store fixture industry—including wood, metal, acrylic, and glass—and is highly proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create and Modify Drawings: Produce detailed CAD drawings from sketches, specifications, and measurements, ensuring all design changes and client requests are addressed promptly.

Drafting & Design: Utilize AutoCAD to create detailed, accurate, and production-ready drawings for custom millwork projects, including furniture, cabinetry, architectural elements, and other wood products.

Material and Design Expertise: Utilize in-depth knowledge of materials such as metal, wood, acrylic, and glass to develop comprehensive designs and create breakout drawings for ordering.

Collaborate with Teams: Work with project/production managers to select cost-effective materials and construction techniques, ensuring designs align with project specifications.

Quality Control: Review and modify designs to minimize production deficiencies and ensure accuracy by checking for errors before completing work.

Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and organized records of all projects, including drawings, parts lists, and cost information for future reference.

Adapt to Changes: Provide prompt updates on drawing progress, workload, and adapt to project scope changes or design alterations.

Multitask Across Projects: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that each meets design requirements, deadlines, and budget constraints.

Shop Floor Support: Address issues that arise on the shop floor related to manufacturing specifications, Bill of Materials, and routings to ensure smooth production.

Craftsmanship and Precision: Produce high-quality design work with a focus on detail, craftsmanship, and attention to precision, particularly in woodworking and furniture construction

Customer Focus: Ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction by communicating effectively with clients and addressing their needs promptly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

· Experience: minimum 5 years of Auto CAD drafting experience, with proficiency in SolidWorks considered an asset. Experience with millwork is required

· Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of millwork construction, materials, methods, and woodworking techniques, including wood finishing, stains, and varnishes.

· Design Skills: Ability to create detailed CAD drawings, including working plans, charts, and scale drawings. Ability to produce presentation drawings with perspectives in AutoCAD.

· Problem Solving: Strong analytical and creative thinking skills, with the ability to solve problems and adapt to changes in project requirements.

· Attention to Detail: Exceptional diligence and accuracy to ensure high-quality craftsmanship in all deliverables.

· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and with clients.

· Project Management: Excellent organizational and planning skills, able to prioritize tasks and manage overlapping projects in a fast-paced environment.

· Independent Worker: Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Professionalism: Ability to keep a professional and mature demeanour under stressful conditions.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Strong understanding of CAD systems and drafting practices.

· Ability in using AutoCAD, with experience creating and managing standardized drawings.

· Strong technical background with firsthand experience in furniture and millwork construction.

· Ability to quickly interpret engineering drawings and respond to production needs.

· Sound knowledge of wood, veneers, laminates, and other materials commonly used in custom cabinetry and furniture.

· Ability to effectively track and manage time spent on tasks and projects.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge and experience using Innergy and Bluebeam software

Familiarity with AWMAC standards considered an asset

There are multiple factors that determine compensation at AWFI, including a candidate's education, training, and previous experience. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. The salary range being offered for this CAD Designer position is between $60,000 annually and $ 75,000 annually.
