Kanata Montessori is a dynamic, student-centred learning community committed to excellence in education. We are seeking a detail oriented and collaborative Finance Coordinator to join our team and play a key role in supporting the school's financial operations. This position works closely with our external bookkeepers, vCFO, Vice Principal, and Principal to ensure accurate, efficient, and transparent financial processes.

The Finance Coordinator will serve as an integral member of our administrative and finance team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, and brings strong analytical and organizational skills to their work. The successful candidate will manage a variety of financial tasks, ensure accuracy across multiple systems, and act as a point of contact for parents, staff, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & Financial Processing

  • Coordinate and prepare payroll information for external bookkeepers.

  • Perform AR data entry including tuition logs, monthly withdrawals, and annual capital fund entries.

  • Complete purchasing data entry and consolidate purchasing information from multiple administrative roles.

Data Management & Systems Accuracy

  • Maintain high-accuracy data entry across all finance and administrative systems.

  • Support the finance team in preparing, organizing, and validating financial documentation.

Communication & Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for parents and vendors regarding invoices, payments, and general finance inquiries.

  • Liaise with external bookkeepers, vCFO, Vice Principal, and Principal to ensure timely financial flow and information sharing.

  • Provide responsive, professional customer service to families, staff, and external partners.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • A keen learner with a collaborative mindset and willingness to support a diverse administrative team.

  • Experience with financial systems or school administrative systems is an asset.

Compensation

  • Salary of $55,000–$60,000 per year
