Sumas Environmental Services Inc. is a leading environmental company in Western Canada, providing a wide range of environmental and industrial services to our clients.

Our Kamloops facility is looking for a personable, hard-working, and physically capable person to join us as a Class 1 (Dump Truck/Pup) and Vacuum/Box Truck (Class 3).

You will be reporting directly to the Kamloops Manager.

Skills Required:

  • Positive, "Can-Do" attitude with the ability to adapt to change
  • Recent vacuum truck / hydro vac experience
  • Excavator experience is highly beneficial
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • Proven track record of safe driving
  • Able to listen, communicate, take direction and provide leadership
  • Able to work individually and as a team
  • Detail orientated with strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and overtime as required is preferred

Duties include:

  • Safe and efficient operation of Class 1 or Class 3 vehicles including but not limited to Vacuum Hydrovac trucks, End Dumps and Drum Trucks
  • Performs daily safety and maintenance checks including oil fluids and greasing
  • Able work in a variety of different weather conditions
  • This is not strictly a driving job - there is often work to be performed in the field
  • Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation
  • Capable of lifting up to 50lbs including offloading and loading at customer sites
  • Other duties as required requested by the Regional Operations Manager

Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to Class 1 Drivers
  • Class 3 drivers with previous industrial experience will be considered
  • Mountain and winter driving experience, including chaining
  • Many of our job sites require being clean shaven for respirators
  • Work experience in the TDG waste, recycling, or environmental service industry an asset, however not required
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving
  • TDG and WHMIS experience

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday during our core facility hours of 7:30am-4:00pm. You may be required to come in earlier or stay later depending on daily project demands and do overtime. There may be weekend work depending on client job requests.

Pay is commensurate with experience.

After three months of continuous employment, you are entitled to join our great Medical and Dental benefits package.
