Job Description

Patois/Jamaican Creole-speaking Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide compassionate and professional care to a blind client in their home located in the Wilson Ave and Jane St.

The ideal candidate must be caring, reliable, and experienced in supporting clients with their daily living activities. Fluency in Patois/Jamaican Creole is required to ensure effective communication and comfort for the clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal care including bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to both clients
  • Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and medication reminders
  • Perform light housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Support clients with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when required
  • Monitor and report any changes in clients' condition or behavior
  • Ensure a respectful, safe, and caring environment at all times

Requirements

  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate – Required
  • Fluent in Patois/Jamaican Creole(speaking and understanding) – Required
  • Vulnerable Sector Check – (within the last 6 months) Required and up to date
  • CPR & First Aid Certification – Required and up to date
  • TB Test results (within the last 6 months) – Required
  • COVID-19 vaccination record and/or forms – Required
  • Prior experience in home care, long-term care, or dementia care – Preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and assist with lifting and mobility
