Casuals also receive 10% in lieu of vacation and statutory holidays.
Pleasant View Housing Society operates a Campus of Care for adults living with mental health concerns in Mission, BC. We value being a good employer. In this unionized environment we are looking to hire those with the same values who can contribute with a caring attitude. The Mental Health Worker (MHCW) works under the direction of the Nurse Manager or Executive Director and is responsible to support our clients in their day-to- day activities while promoting their highest level of independent functioning.
Duties can include facilitating and creating recreation programing, transporting clients to and rom community events and medical appointments and why class 4 restricted or better license is required, supporting clients in their recovery with a Psycho Social Rehabilitation (PSR) approach, facilitating PSR education programs and recreation programs, passing medications, transport clients within the community and reporting all concerns to management. Team members must be available to work all shifts within the 24 hour clock.

Our MHCW employees must:
- Have mental health training or experience (for example we are not talking experience in dementia but rather in mental health diagnosis such as schizophrenia and bipolar illness)
- Have the ability to lead groups and facilitate recreation programs in house and in the community
- Have certification: BC Care Aid Registry number
- Have a clear understanding of Psycho Social Rehabilitation applications
- Be able to provide 2 direct work supervisor references
- Provide a satisfactory TB screening test report
- Agree to fully participate in the organization flu/infection control immunization program
- Pass a criminal record check that is screened specifically for vulnerable adults and seniors
- Agree to actively participate in our Continuing Education and Training Program
- Be available to work all shifts (days, afternoons and night)
- Have a current First Aid & CPR Level C and maintain this certification during employment
- Have a certification in Medication Administration
- Be a team player who is always respectful to our clients, their family and other team members and volunteers
- Hold and maintain a class 4 restricted license or actively pursue a class 4 during probation (this is the license that Taxi driver have it is not the normal class 5 )
- Provide a driver's abstract depicting an acceptable safe driving record
- Hold and maintain a current food safe certification
- Complete a free on line program called Community Care Training code to register and start can be provided to those scheduled for an interview.
