WHAT'S THE TEAM LIKE

The facility maintenance team ensures the smooth operation of all indoor spaces at the busy 24/7 airport, keeping terminals, offices, and other buildings safe, functional, and well-maintained. They handle repairs, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to support airport operations and passenger comfort. This team ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations, supporting 24/7 airport activities and driving smart building initiatives.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely conduct preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on airport electrical systems on an active airfield.
  • Install, maintain and repair airfield lighting systems and their components, including runway lights, taxiway lights, primary and secondary conductors, and approach lighting as per the Calgary Airport's Visual Aid Maintenance Management program.
  • Install, maintain, and repair high and low-voltage electrical distribution systems at airports, including constant current electrical systems as per CSA Z463.
  • Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities for compliance with aviation regulations (TP312 Compliance).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve faults in electrical and electronic systems supporting airport operations.
  • Service, test, and maintain generators, regulators, and other key electrical equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, and specifications, and adhere to airfield safety protocols including emergency response.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  • Graduation from an apprenticeship program (journeyman certification) with interprovincial certification (red seal endorsement)
  • 2-4 years' experience as a journeyman electrician in the areas of maintenance and commercial and industrial installations.
  • Technical expertise in electrical systems, control systems, circuit troubleshooting. Knowledge of electrical safety protocol.
  • Strong problem‑solving and high attention to detail to accurately diagnose issues and perform precise inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Ability to work safely in demanding conditions, including extreme weather, physically intensive tasks, and rapid response to emergencies/on‑call needs.
  • As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
  • This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver's license and a current driver's abstract as part of the hiring process.
  • Ability to obtain air brake designation with in set period.
