Supplier Quality Engineer

Oakville, Ontario, Canada Coordinate Industries Ltd. Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities, Quality and Health, Safety and Environmental risks
  • Work with Engineering team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements
  • Perform audits, capacity and methodology analysis and determine supplier core competencies to ensure work is placed properly
  • Perform Quality System, Process and Product audits on suppliers
  • Work with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans
  • Prepare and submit supplier Score cards based on their Delivery and Quality ratings
  • Conduct in-depth review and follow-up on the implementation of supplier action plans for poor score card performance
  • Lead corrective actions as required from supplier 8D's or non-conformance reports
  • Maintain the Supplier Quality Manual to the supply base
  • Prepare Operations review Supplier and Internal Quality KPI's, countermeasures and annual action plans for supplier quality PPM, on-time delivery, late supplier 8D responses, etc.
  • Perform on-site supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier quality issues
  • Assist with logistics, including communications with vendors when there are packaging and receiving issues when materials arrive at receiving dock

Job Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience (Chemical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering)
  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred
  • Have knowledge of Quality and Environmental standards, preferably ISO 9001: AS9100D and ISO 14000
  • Must possess great organizational and communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with management
  • Ability to develop good rapport with the purchasing, manufacturing and production departments
  • Ability to perform quality audits on suppliers to assure products and services meet International Organization for Standards (ISO) and regulatory standards
  • Good understanding and working experience with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, Statistical Process Control, FMEA, Design of Experiments and Six Sigma problem solving methods
  • Proven experience securing successful vendor contracts
  • Ability to travel as this position requires 30% travel

Preferred:

  • Prior Supplier Quality Engineering experience
