About The Role
Amrize in Nanaimo is seeking motivated individuals to join our Asphalt Paving Crew. As a member of our team, you will contribute to the construction and maintenance of asphalt roads and surfaces, ensuring high-quality workmanship and safety standards are met.

What You'll Accomplish

  • Collaborate with team members to efficiently complete paving projects within scheduled timelines.
  • Perform asphalt paving tasks including but not limited to: spreading and leveling asphalt, compacting surfaces using rollers, excavating and grading areas, and operating skid steers for various tasks
  • Ensure proper drainage and compaction of asphalt surfaces to meet project specifications
  • Operate and maintain asphalt paving equipment in accordance with safety guidelines and manufacturer specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and address any issues or concerns that may arise during paving operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
  • Adhere to environmental regulations and company policies regarding waste disposal and material usage.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

What We're Looking For
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent

Required Work Experience:
Previous experience in asphalt paving or construction-related fields is an asset, but is not required.

Required Training/Certifications:
Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Additional Requirements

  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment
  • Willing to work overtime when needed including Saturdays
  • Able to work well with others and work unsupervised
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
