About the Opportunity:
As the Content Marketing Specialist, you play a key role in the execution of CNB's brand, marketing, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies by connecting with various audiences across platforms and channels to support Cannabis NB's brand promise. In this role, you will work collaboratively within the Brand & Marketing Team and cross-functionally across the business. You will strategize, plan, create, and execute on CNB's content needs and measure the effectiveness of content at regular intervals.
You will lead content creation and publication for owned, social, and paid channels, including (but not limited to) social media, websites, email newsletters, digital and traditional advertising, marketing and sales collateral, in-store point-of-sale (POS), and internal communications related to brand and marketing initiatives. You will also build, maintain, and execute content schedules (workbacks) and calendars, ensuring successful implementation of all content plans that align with Cannabis NB's broader brand and marketing strategies.
While this role supports content creation for physical assets like POS, you have deep experience and expertise in digital marketing (strategy and execution) — this is where your passion lies. You're always learning and thrive on exploring customer insights and trending moments. You know how to harness immediate, strategic opportunities to break through and meaningfully connect with audiences.
Although this is a remote role, you love collaborating as part of a high-performing team. You're intrinsically driven by contributing to a purposeful brand and achieving business objectives. Bilingualism in both official languages and product knowledge are considered assets for this role.
Responsibilities Include:
- Developing and maintaining — in a collaborative way — the social media and content strategies, ensuring they are based on research and insights to effectively support business goals and align with our brand purpose.
- Building, maintaining, and executing workback schedules and content calendars; proactively managing timelines to ensure timely delivery of content across all channels while adhering to brand voice and style guidelines.
- Clearly communicating plans, potential risks, and opportunities that could impact customer experience and brand.
- Preparing content for approval efficiently, showing alignment to strategy and KPIs.
- Writing engaging and brand-aligned copy that supports business goals; leveraging data and insights to create messaging that resonates with target audiences.
- Creating short- and medium-form content (static and video) for social media, weekly customer newsletters, in-store POS (digital and physical), and websites as required.
- Updating website content within the CMS (content management system).
- Ensuring accurate content appears on our websites and third-party sites (Google Maps, Bing, event listings, etc.).
- Proofreading, editing, and maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Collaborating with the Communications Team to support transcreation/translation of content.
- Providing clear, brand-aligned creative direction to the design team or external creative partners.
- Coordinating content production within the team or with external partners, as needed.
- Working within various programs and platforms such as Meta, BrightSign (or similar), Constant Contact (or similar), Canva, GA4, and CMS tools.
- Regularly monitoring and analyzing KPIs to evaluate and optimize digital marketing efforts; presenting regular reports to the Brand & Marketing team.
- Managing social media communities, including outreach and timely responses to questions and messages, maintaining Cannabis NB's brand tone and voice to build strong relationships.
- Staying updated on industry trends (retail, cannabis, social media, etc.), consumer behavior, cultural insights, and emerging marketing technologies.
- Being solutions-focused and bringing forward recommendations and opportunities in a timely manner.
- Assisting with other marketing initiatives and projects as needed, showing flexibility and willingness to contribute to the team's success.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Bilingualism in both official languages is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in digital marketing, content creation, or similar roles within retail, CPG, or marketing agencies.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft engaging content across multiple channels and formats.
- Proficiency with digital marketing tools and platforms (as noted above) and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, etc.).
- Creative thinker with a strategic mindset and ability to translate marketing objectives into effective content strategies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Detail- and results-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Natural time manager and highly organized.
- Customer service mindset.
- Fast learner and naturally curious — known for asking great questions.
Working Conditions:
- Must be 19 years of age or older.
- Must be willing to travel to locations across New Brunswick for meetings, events, and brand activations (some may take place after hours or on weekends).
- Remote position — must reside in New Brunswick at the time of employment.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving abstract required.
