As NAIT continues to grow its student body and lead the way in hands-on learning, we are recruiting skilled and passionate individuals to help inspire and train current and future industry professionals and become part of Canada's leading polytechnic.
NAIT's Plumber program will prepare students to install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls for transporting water, waste, gases or hot liquids. Students will learn to prepare detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation, how to install underground storm sanitary and water piping systems, and receive more experience with finishing work, such as installing sinks, tubs and toilets or more specialized tasks like installing water conditioners or hydronic heating and chilled water systems.
The program is currently recruiting for two continuous instructors who are energetic leaders, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
The successful candidate will:

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, virtual, laboratory and industry setting
- Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
- Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
- Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
- Respond to student issues
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
- Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
- Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT's Strategic Plan and NAIT's Academic Plan as identified by the institute
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal Skills

- Excellent communication skills
- Strong knowledge of computers and accessories.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Completion of Plumbing Alberta Journeyman certificate or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal required
- Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyman certificate or provincial equivalent.
- Additional relevant post-secondary education and/or professional development training
- Teaching experience preferred
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).
Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Instructor salary grid $65, $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78, $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
