About the Role

Semex is seeking a highly experienced and strategic External Advisor to join our Board of Directors. This role is designed to bring an external perspective and expertise to our governance structure, supporting our strategic direction and enhancing our decision-making processes. The External Advisor will provide valuable insights and guidance, enhancing the skillset of the current Board of Directors. 

What You Will Do:

• Provide strategic advice and insights to the Board of Directors, aligning with Semex's long-term goals and strategic imperatives.
• Offer expertise in international markets, including trade, regulation, and foreign exchange.
• Support high-level, value-based selling and go-to-market strategies.
• Advise on mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, bringing deal-making experience to the board.
• Assist in product strategy and portfolio management, especially in consolidating or corporatizing markets.
• Promote innovation and automation within the agricultural sector.
• Bring diverse perspectives and challenge the board constructively.
• Ensure alignment with Semex's cooperative values and governance style and contribute to enhanced governance practices.
• An asset, but not required: Contribute knowledge of global beef supply chains, feedlots, processing, and commercial beef production.

What You Need to Succeed:

• Extensive experience in international business, preferably with exposure to diverse regulatory environments.
• Proven track record in strategic sales, business development, and high-level selling.
• Background in mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
• Familiarity with governance models in member-based or cooperative organizations.
• Experience in product strategy and portfolio management.
• Understanding of robotics, automation, and ag-tech.
• Ability to bring diverse perspectives and challenge constructively.
• Strong cultural fit with Semex's cooperative values and governance style.
• Knowledge of the beef industry and global supply chains an asset

Additional Information

• This is a non-voting advisory role.
• The advisor will be expected to attend board meetings and provide input on strategic decisions.
• Compensation will be commensurate with experience and industry standards.
