About the Opportunity
The Senior Security Specialist is a key member of the Cybersecurity team, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining security protocols to protect the organization's data, systems, and infrastructure. This role requires advanced technical expertise, a strategic mindset, and the ability to lead security initiatives across various departments. The Senior Security Specialist will work closely with other IT teams.

Role Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and implement comprehensive security policies, standards, and procedures to safeguard information assets.
- Monitor and analyze security alerts, logs, and reports to detect and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, oversee/conduct penetration testing, and risk analyses to identify and address potential threats.
- Assist in security awareness training and promote a security-first culture throughout the organization.
- Coordinate incident response activities, including investigation, root cause analysis, remediation, and reporting.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, PIPEDA).
- Oversee the deployment and configuration of security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint protection, and SIEM tools.
- Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and evidence of security controls as needed.
- Stay current with applicable software and OS patches, emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and regulatory requirements, making recommendations for improvements as appropriate.
- Experience with vendor onboarding assessment.
- Identify and perform semi-annual / annual failover and DR tests.
- Oversee MDM policy implementation for corporate approved devices such as Windows laptops, iOS and Android.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff and cross-functional teams.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in information security, network security, or related discipline, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Prior experience in system administration – Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, M365 suite.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent are preferred.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks, risk management, and regulatory compliance relevant to Canadian contexts.
- Proficiency in security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, vulnerability scanners).
- Experience with incident response and threat analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Compensation
Base salary range of $110,000-$140,000.
Total compensation includes salary, variable discretionary bonus, benefits and other perks.
