The Paper Mill Process Engineer provides technical and process support to operations and leads process improvement activities for a designated tissue machine. This role focuses on safety, quality, productivity, cost efficiency, waste reduction, and process reliability.
- Deliver technical support in process control, system analysis, centerlining, and operational leadership while promoting a safety-first culture.
- Collaborate across departments (Converting, Quality, Maintenance, Logistics) and maintain strong relationships with OEM technicians for technical support.
- Identify and resolve complex technical, quality, or safety issues; troubleshoot equipment and implement operational standards to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead process optimization and improvement projects, including small to medium capital projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
- Monitor and analyze paper mill processes, equipment capabilities, and key predictive indicators; use data insights to inform decisions and improvements.
- Support product development initiatives to enhance quality and performance; assist with planning, installation, and start-up of new equipment.
- Actively contribute to innovation and site improvement initiatives "Find a better way every day" while upholding professional and ethical conduct.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical/Industrial, Pulp and Paper Engineering or Environmental Science.
- 2 to 7 years in a manufacturing environment including involvement in business improvement projects
- Experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical & Instrumentation is considered an asset
- Experience with AVEVA PI Systems or Parcview is considered an asset
- Experience with lean management initiatives is considered an asset
- Previous experience in the paper industry is considered an asset
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, managing competing priorities and changing conditions
