Commercial Lines Underwriter II

Here is what a typical day looks like

• Gathering and investigating background information in order to effectively assess risk involved
• Analyzing and classifying assigned applications to determine acceptability and establishing rates and premiums
• Negotiating terms and conditions of coverage including pricing on renewals, cancellations, new business and midterm changes
• Implementing underwriting alternatives based on authority, supporting business and exclusions
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with brokers with a commitment to service
• Responding to inquiries from insurance agents regarding underwriting processes and decisions, interpretation of policy forms and coverage, and premium levels
• Providing service throughout the policy period, approving routine changes to existing coverage and responding to inquiries from the agent and client
• Contributing to the evaluation of agency performance and issues
• Mentoring junior underwriting staff in underwriting theory, technical and soft skill fundamentals. Coaching and guiding with respect to service standards as well as supporting in underwriting for senior underwriters
• Conducting comprehensive file reviews with client contacts and appropriately documenting files
• Contributing to the development of underwriting policy, procedures and guidelines

The value you bring

• General Insurance Level 2 License required, CIP, or CAIB preferred
• 1 year of Underwriting experience an asset
• Professional communication etiquette, both written and verbal
• Adept in retrieving customer data efficiently
• Involvement in industry related associations and your community

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full time)

Location: Remote in Canada (With Correct Licensing)

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000
