SSR Mining – Seabee Gold Operation (SGO) is hiring for a Community Relations Liaison .

About Your New Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Environment & Community, the Community Relations Liaison, will be responsible for developing community relations strategies and maintaining successful relationships within the local communities and First Nations. Our community relations strategies are multi-pronged, focusing on increasing recruitment, retention, procurement, investment and partnership with local communities and First Nations.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as key point of contact between SGO and local stakeholders and proactively seek to strengthen and build relationships within local communities.
  • Prepare presentations and attend events to promote awareness of our operations including career fairs, business events, and community events.
  • Coordinate site tours of our operations with local Indigenous community leaders.
  • Work closely with other SGO departments such as Human Resources and Supply Chain to develop recruitment and procurement strategies and Recruiting Specialist for recruitment and career presentations.
  • Work closely with the Exploration department on consultation process for exploration projects in Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and Northwest Territories. Early engagement plays a crucial role in building trust-based relationships and a license to operate with our local stakeholders.
  • Lead management of community investment and donations and scholarship programs.
  • Lead management of SGO grievance mechanism and respond to community concerns through transparent and respectful dialogue.
  • Organize internal ESG reporting, ensuring information is accurate and consistent.
  • Provide support to assist SGO in meeting all regulatory and company commitments.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the department.

Your Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge with Indigenous relations and community engagement.
  • Outstanding problem-solving, written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be well-organized self-starter.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Your Education and Experience:

The successful candidate should exhibit a blend of educational and work experience:

  • Recognized university degree in Business Administration/Human Resources/Environmental studies or related science program, is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years of relevant work experience in the mining industry or in a similar role within the resources sector considered an asset.
  • Experience with Duty to Consult, partnership agreements, and project development is considered an asset.

About Our Working Conditions:

This position has the option of working out of the Saskatoon office, Monday to Friday with frequent travel to the Northern Communities and to the Seabee Gold Operation mine site, or there may be an option to work remotely with frequent travels to the Northern Communities and to the Seabee Gold Operation.
