Work Schedule: Approximately 3–4 site visits per week (or as required), each visit approx. 3–4 hours
About the Project
We are seeking an experienced Part-Time Site Manager / Site Supervisor to oversee the construction of a new single-family residential home in Dorval, Quebec.
This role represents the General Contractor on site and is primarily focused on site supervision, quality control, safety compliance, subcontractor coordination, progress monitoring, and inspection readiness.
This is not a hands-on trade position.
It is a supervisory, coordination, and oversight role intended for a seasoned construction professional.
Role Overview
The Site Manager / Site Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring that construction activities are executed in accordance with:
- Approved architectural and engineering plans
- Quebec Building Code and municipal regulations
- GCR requirements and best construction practices
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and clear communication, and is comfortable working independently while reporting to GC.
Key Responsibilities
On-Site Supervision
Conduct regular site visits (approximately 3–4 times per week)
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with:
- Approved plans and specifications
- Quebec Building Code and municipal requirements
Identify deficiencies early and report them promptly to prevent delays or rework
Subcontractor Coordination
Coordinate sequencing and site readiness for subcontractors, including:
- Architect, engineers
- Foundation
- Framing
- MEP rough-ins and finishing (plumbing, electrical, HVAC)
- Insulation, drywall, and finishing trades
- Ensure trades follow correct construction order and respect site conditions
Communicate site issues clearly and professionally to GC
Schedule & Progress Monitoring
Track construction progress against the established schedule
- Flag delays caused by weather, material availability, or subcontractor performance
Assist GC in maintaining realistic and achievable timelines
Quality Control & Documentation
Perform visual quality inspections at key construction milestones
- Maintain site visit notes and photo documentation when required
Prepare punch lists and deficiency reports and assist in resolution tracking
Inspection Support
Prepare the site for municipal and government inspections
- Coordinate with inspectors when required
Ensure deficiencies identified during inspections are clearly communicated and corrected
Collaboration & Problem Solving
Participate in site meetings and ensure follow-up on decisions and action items
- Propose practical solutions to technical or construction challenges encountered on site
- Help maintain a safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in residential construction supervision or site coordination
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and basic MEP drawings
- Solid knowledge of Quebec residential construction practices and sequencing
- Familiarity with Quebec Building Code and municipal inspection processes
- Ability to work independently and report clearly and professionally to GC
- Legally authorized to work in Quebec
Strongly Preferred
- Educational background in construction management, building technology, or a related field (college diploma or bachelor's degree)
- Background as one or more of the following:
- Site Supervisor
- Project Coordinator
- Senior Carpenter / Foreman
- Retired or semi-retired General Contractor
- Familiarity with municipal inspections:
- Foundation
- Framing
- Rough-ins
- Insulation
- Final inspection
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage priorities
Important Compliance Notes
- CCQ trade certification is NOT required (supervisory role only)
- No engineering or professional license required
- This role does not involve design responsibility or professional sealing
