Staffix Professional Staffing is working with a growing and well-respected Greater Toronto Area construction firm that specializes in large-scale structural rehabilitation projects, including parking garage restorations and concrete infrastructure repairs. The company is known for its technical expertise and high-quality project execution.
We are seeking a highly skilled Estimator with Project Management experience, ideally with a background in structural engineering and concrete restoration, to play a critical role in winning and supporting complex industrial and commercial rehab projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimator Focus – Core Duties:
Review proposal specifications and technical drawings to determine full scope of work and required contents of estimates
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for concrete/structural rehabilitation projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor input
Lead bid submissions — manage supporting data entry, data validation, compilation of technical literature, and preparation of all bid documents
Close bids with confidence, offering valuable input on risk assessment, feasibility, and strategic implications of pursuing specific projects
Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and availability for project inputs
Collaborate with senior leadership to align estimating with business development goals and profitability targets
Track and manage estimates, change orders, and scope modifications throughout the pre-construction phase
Project Management Support (as needed):
Support the project team post-award to ensure seamless transition from estimating to execution
Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating subcontractors and internal teams
Conduct occasional site visits to monitor progress and support field teams
Maintain effective communication with clients, engineers, consultants, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of combined estimating and project management experience, with a focus on concrete and structural rehab projects
Educational background in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline is required
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, industry pricing, and estimating software/tools
Prior experience working on parking garage rehabilitation, concrete restoration, and structural repair projects is highly preferred
Excellent analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across multiple teams
Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to project sites as needed
Assets:
PMP certification or equivalent project management training
Experience with formwork systems, tilt-up, or cast-in-place concrete
Working knowledge of Ontario Building Code and safety regulations
