Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and professional Photographer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for capturing high-quality portraits that meet our studio's standards of excellence. This role requires a combination of technical photography skills, artistic vision, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with our makeup artists, retouchers, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Photography & Technical Duties:
- Execute professional portrait photography sessions including ID photos, business headshots, graduation photos, and creative portraits
- Operate professional photography equipment, including cameras, lighting systems, and studio setups
- Comply with specific requirements for various photo types (ID photos must meet IRCC guidelines and other regulatory standards)
- Utilize light-reflective tools and natural lighting techniques to create optimal shooting conditions
- Capture multiple shots during each session to ensure we have excellent options for client selection
- Maintain and care for all photography equipment and studio facilities
Client Interaction & Service:
- Provide clear, friendly direction to clients during photo sessions, helping them feel comfortable and confident
- Model poses and expressions to guide clients in achieving the best results
- Communicate effectively with clients throughout the shooting process, ensuring their needs and expectations are met
- Assist clients in selecting the best photographs from their session
- Maintain a professional, warm, and approachable demeanor that puts clients at ease
Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Work closely with makeup artists and hairstylists to ensure cohesive styling and photography results
- Coordinate with retouchers to communicate specific editing requirements and preferences
- Collaborate with front desk staff to understand client needs and special requests
- Participate in team meetings to discuss workflow improvements and client feedback
Quality Control & Process:
- Review and assess photo quality before presenting to clients
- Ensure all photos meet studio standards for lighting, composition, and technical quality
- Follow studio workflow processes from booking to final delivery
- Maintain organized digital file management and naming conventions
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of professional photography experience, preferably in portrait or studio photography
- Proven portfolio demonstrating expertise in portrait photography
- Experience with professional camera systems (DSLR/mirrorless) and studio lighting equipment
- Knowledge of photography software and basic image management
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in camera operation, exposure control, and composition
- Strong understanding of studio lighting techniques and equipment
- Knowledge of various photo format requirements (ID photos, passport photos, business portraits)
- Basic understanding of post-processing workflow and image editing concepts
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with equipment

- Ability to make clients feel comfortable and confident
- Bilingual in English and Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is highly preferred
Work Requirements:
- Available to work Tuesday through Saturday during studio hours (12:30 PM - 6:00 PM)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and move equipment as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience specifically with ID photo and passport photography
- Knowledge of Canadian immigration photo requirements (IRCC guidelines)
- Experience photographing children and families
- Familiarity with Square booking system or similar appointment management software
- Additional experience in retouching or post-processing
- Experience with pet photography
- Strong social media presence or portfolio showcasing work
