Locum - Emergency Medicine - Pugwash

Opened in 2024, North Cumberland Memorial Hospital is a modern rural community hospital in the heart of Pugwash, offering diverse opportunities for healthcare providers. The facility delivers comprehensive care through primary care, a Level 3 emergency department, ambulatory care services, a small inpatient unit, and an array of outpatient services, including minor procedures, laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation, mental health support, dietary consultation, and more. The newly built facility is thoughtfully designed, sitting adjacent to a long-term care home with a shared healing garden and green space, fostering a strong connection between acute and continuing care. Overlooking the tranquil Pugwash Harbour, North Cumberland Memorial Hospital provides a serene and picturesque setting, allowing staff and physicians a peaceful retreat from the demands of their workday.

North Cumberland Memorial Hospital is seeking Emergency Medicine Physicians to provide Locum coverage during a period of active recruitment. 

Compensation is provided by the service, and locum physicians are eligible to access the travel elements of the program, including reimbursement for kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.

• All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
•  All family physicians must have membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
• All specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
•  membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
• All applicants must have a current PALS Certification
• All applicants must have a current ATLS Certification
• All applicants must have a current ACLS Certification
