Your Opportunity

As Triton continues to grow, we are seeking highly motivated and passionate Environmental Monitors who are eager to make a meaningful impact

This position is ideal for you if you're passionate about working outdoors and have experience working within a construction environment. You'll get the chance to be part of some world-class projects that balance environmental protection along with responsible development.

Your Impact

  • Monitoring construction work activities as they relate to environmental protection, including implementation of environmental protection plans, management plans, and best practices
  • Advising construction personnel on major decisions such as determining courses of action on how to navigate various construction commitments, government regulations, or unexpected environmental conditions
  • Monitoring instream works including stream isolations and diversions
  • Monitoring and collecting water quality samples in both freshwater and marine environments
  • Monitoring sites for erosion and sedimentation, providing mitigation recommendations as needed
  • Supporting pre-construction migratory and breeding bird nest sweeps, and fish and amphibian salvage activities
  • Conducting equipment inspections for fluid leaks and assisting with spill prevention and response
  • Preparing daily and weekly monitoring summary reports
  • Attending project and safety meetings
  • Promoting safety culture and complying with safety protocols
  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and contractors

Your Skills & Experience

  • Post-secondary education (degree, diploma, and/or certificate) in biology, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, or related program is an asset
  • Previous experience as an environmental monitor in a construction environment
  • Relevant professional designation is an asset (e.g., RPBio, P.Biol, P.Ag)
  • Experience in fish salvage, water quality monitoring, pre-construction migratory and breeding bird nest sweeps, and wildlife surveys an asset
  • Knowledge of erosion and sedimentation control measures
  • Adept in the operation and maintenance of required field sampling equipment
  • Ability to identify and mitigate issues rapidly to ensure compliance within an active construction work environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, regulators, and co-workers
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented with solid organizational and time-management skills
  • Physically fit and able to work in challenging outdoor environments and remote locations in all weather conditions
  • Willing to work rotational shifts, as well as stay in camps and/or hotels
  • Valid driver's license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting.

Your Compensation 

Wages are commensurate with experience and qualifications, with approximate wage range being $30 to $47 per hour.

Location, Work Schedule & Flexibility

This position is primarily field based, with shift rotations and camp/hotel stays. Schedules may vary and are determined by client project staffing requirements.
