Research & Development - Co-op 

Division Job: Quaker Oats Canada

Location: Peterborough, ON  (with occasional travel to Mississauga)

Delivery: In-person at PTBO Plant

Winter Term: Jan April 2026

Compensation: $25-28 per hour

As part of the Product Development team this role will support the development of new products for launch into the Canadian market place.

Responsibilities
  • Perform Bench Top and preparation and testing of new or existing products
  • Assist in the development of new products for launch into the Canadian marketplace
  • Assist in the scale-up and start up new products /sizes on existing equipment
  • Development, routing and approval of specifications
  • Work with vendors, purchasing and headquarters to qualify new ingredients
  • Participate in quality, product improvement and productivity initiatives
  • Manage analytical testing and data collection for ingredient and nutritional information
Qualifications
  • 3rd or 4th year student from Diploma or Degree program in Food Science, Engineering or related discipline.  
  • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail  
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills required. Attention to detail extremely important. Ability to work under deadlines and multi-task.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written  
  • Ability to work cross functionally within PepsiCo and with external vendors  
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of projects, data and other matters relating to PepsiCo business  
  • Good record keeping skills for ingredient and nutrition labelling.  
  • Familiarity with regulatory affairs guidelines would be a definite asset (Food and Drugs Act, Guide to Food Labelling including mandatory nutrition labelling regulations)
