This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - Mental Health Crisis Worker Barrett Centre
How You Will Make an Impact
The Barrett Centre provides crisis intervention supports to all those aged 16+ of any gender identity. The program provides services including 16 short-term respite beds, in-person and telephone support, information and referral; crisis assessment, counseling and support; symptom stabilization for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
Be compassionate, hospitable, and non-judgmental Conduct risk and suicide assessment, crisis intervention, de-escalating strategies Determine care planning & crisis counselingContinuous monitoring and evaluation; individual supportProvide linkage and community referral; advocacy; collaboration and coordination with other service providersBe a part of shared hands-on responsibility for program operationStaff are also provided the opportunity for training and education, co-facilitation of programming and groups, and collaboration with other community partners and co-workersResponsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good ShepherdWhat You'll Bring to Our Team
Demonstrate a commitment to the mission values of Good Shepherd with sensitivity to the issues related to mental illness, addictions, poverty, homelessness and dual diagnosisRelated post-secondary education with a degree in social work, nursing or related fields is required5 years' experience working with adults in mental health and addictions preferredPrevious experience in crisis work is an assetMust have an ability to adapt interventions to diverse populationsFluency in a 2nd language is an assetCPR certification or willingness to be certified is requiredCommitted to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good ShepherdDemonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employee's responsibility under current legislation.Must be willing to work twelve hour rotating shifts and alternate weekendsWhat We Offer
