Woodland Heritage Northwest is an Indigenous owned archaeological and heritage management company that is growing at a fast pace. We are presently seeking candidates for the following position:
Human Resources / Health and Safety Assistant
Providing office support to the General Manager and employees, this position encompasses a wide variety of human resources related tasks.
Part time – Monday, Wednesday and Friday preferable - 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, office located within city limits.
The position has the potential to grow to full-time with the right candidate.
PRIMARY LOCATION: Thunder Bay
Your challenges:
As Human Resources / Health and Safety Assistant, your duties will include a range of staffing, Human Resources tasks and assist in developing a robust standard operating procedure (SOPs) and act as a key change agent providing support and direction for Human Resources by performing the following duties:
- Provide support to General Management & Supervisory staff on Labour Relations and Health & Safety related issues. Serve as recorder for JHSC.
- Provide support and information to operations for office work systems and Labour contract management including setting up training and onboarding paperwork with new employees.
- Experience with employee group benefit administration including management of WSIB reporting and followup.
- Assist with the management of employee safety training, development programs, safety committees, Health and Safety related policies, procedure development and certification programs, and provide support to managers and employees on all disability management and return to work programs.

- Reporting to the General Manager, you will be part of a dynamic team to which you will contribute vital skills.
Your profile:
- 1 to 3 years relevant experience years' experience in Human Resources.
- Proficient office related skills.

- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team, to communicate (oral and written) with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change;
- Solid analytical skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on experience and judgment;
- Understanding of federal employment laws;
- Strong sourcing, recruiting and staffing capabilities;
- Project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities;
- Demonstrated strong facilitation and issue resolution skills;
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Word Press for website management;
- Class G driver's license in good standing;
