Division: Community ServicesDepartment: Recreation and Community DevelopmentTerm: 1 Temporary Full Time position available for approximately 6 months.Closing Date: 01/29/2026Labour Group: CUPE 59Posting: 4913Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Culture and Inclusion Manager, this position is responsible for the planning, development, administration and evaluation of programs, process and initiatives concerning Public Art.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelops, coordinates, administers and monitors civic arts and culture policy, services and programs as identified in the City's municipal culture plan.Provides professional advice, application assistance, and counsel to arts and culture organizations and develops initiatives to support the City's objectives to nurture and strengthen the local cultural community.Participates in the development and release of Artist Calls.Ensures public art policies and procedures are followed.Facilitates contract negotiations and payment to artists for City commissions.Liaises with other departments, consultants, curators, and artists to facilitate technical reviews of concept, fabrication, and installation of public art. This includes reviewing construction documents and development design.Acts as the Administrative resource for the City of Saskatoon, Public Art Advisory Committee.Monitors fiscal administration of the City's Public Art projects, including managing art projects attached to capital projects.Manages documentation, registration and conservation activities for the public art collection.Develops educational and promotional strategies for public art programs to increase private sector and citizen awareness and encourage and develop local artists.Participates in the development of public art project/program communications, outreach, and education materials.Selects, directs and supervises contractors, summer students and student placements.Assists with the planning of commemorations and dedication ceremonies.Assists in the preparation and monitoring of related budgets.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsA degree in one of the following: Arts Administration, Fine Arts, Humanities, Cultural Studies, Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, Social Sciences.Six years' progressively responsible experience working in community development involving grant administration and arts and culture programming, including two years' supervisory experienceConsiderable knowledge of the theory and practice of arts issues applicable to all levels of government.Considerable knowledge of organizational and volunteer development and their application to personal and community development in the arts.Knowledge of public participation processes, group facilitation, team building and group dynamics.Knowledge of current literature, standards, trends and evaluation principles and methods applicable to arts development.Knowledge of challenges facing equity groups when accessing arts and culture funding.Knowledge of the current arts and culture organizations in Saskatoon with an understanding of the challenges faced by this sector.Knowledge of equitable and inclusive practices that support disadvantaged groups to participate in the grant application process.Ability to work with diverse organizations and community groups.Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and in writing, including the ability to develop and conduct presentations, training sessions and produce resource materials.Ability to develop, maintain and facilitate processes and partnerships for successful project delivery.Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, elected officials, outside agencies and the public.Skill in the use of a computer using the Microsoft Office Suite.Weekly Hours: 36.67Salary Range: $80,673.60 to $88,943.04 CAD per annum (2026 rates)Diversity, Equity and InclusionThe City of Saskatoon offers an inclusive workplace that embraces diverse backgrounds.
