Job Summary
Hero Support Services Inc. is seeking compassionate and reliable Child and Youth Workers (CYWs) to support children and youth in residential and community-based settings. The successful candidate will provide structured support, supervision, and guidance to youth with diverse needs, including behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges. This role requires professionalism, empathy, strong boundaries, and a commitment to youth safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care, supervision, and support to children and youth in accordance with individualized care plans
- Support youth with daily living activities, routines, and life skills development
- Build positive, respectful, and therapeutic relationships with youth while maintaining professional boundaries
- Monitor and document youth behavior, mood, progress, and incidents in a timely and accurate manner
- Implement de-escalation strategies and behavior support techniques when required
- Conduct routine wellness checks and ensure a safe, supportive environment at all times
- Administer or support medication in accordance with agency policy and training (where applicable)
- Accompany youth to appointments, school, community outings, and recreational activities
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external professionals
- Follow all agency policies, health and safety procedures, and reporting requirements
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy legislation and ethical standards
