Role Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for communicating and supporting JM core values and delivering the JM experience.  Will report to the Maintenance Leader and ensure that safety, quality of work, communications, teamwork, team development, and proper accountability are carried out effectively.  Plans, schedules, and coordinates maintenance activities that include preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, special projects, and service work.  This includes the plant property, utilities, offices, and all production line equipment.  Purchases necessary equipment for in-house repairs and sources contractors when necessary for non-routine tasks.  Maintains the computerized maintenance management system for regulatory compliance, asset care and asset management.  Monitors equipment performance for implementing corrective action plans and developing justification for future replacement projects.

Shift: 12‑hour rotating

Pay: $43.80-$47.10 CAD

Key Performance Objectives:

Drive Equipment Reliability & Reduce Unplanned Downtime

  • Contribute to achieving targeted reductions in equipment failures by proactively identifying mechanical and electrical issues and implementing long‑term corrective actions.
  • Support predictive and preventive maintenance strategies that extend asset life and improve equipment performance.
     

Strengthen Safety Performance & Regulatory Compliance

  • Demonstrate a safety‑first mindset, consistently upholding EHS standards (CAPP, OSHA, PSM) and contributing to zero‑incident performance goals.
  • Support Management of Change processes and contractor safety training to ensure full compliance and risk reduction.
     

Enhance Operational Efficiency Through Technical Excellence

  • Apply mechanical and electrical proficiency to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues in ways that minimize disruptions and improve overall plant throughput.
  • Use technical data and CMMS-driven insights to make informed maintenance decisions, ensuring proactive, not reactive, performance.
     

Build Strong Communication & Collaboration Across Departments

  • Model effective communication by contributing to accurate pass‑downs, shift‑change discussions, and plant-wide updates to ensure seamless continuity of operations.
  • Collaborate with production, EHS, and engineering teams to drive shared operational goals, reducing process variability and improving teamwork culture.

Contribute to Continuous Improvement & Future Asset Planning

  • Support justification of future replacements or upgrades by monitoring equipment performance and proposing cost‑effective improvement projects.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline maintenance processes, reduce waste, and enhance reliability through data‑driven insights.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have a 433A certificate or Red Seal Certificate
  • Mechanical and electrical proficiency
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office; CMMS experience preferred)
  • Data‑driven decision‑making skills
  • Basic math + algebra; PLC experience preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience is an asset
  • Physical requirements include standing, lifting 50 lbs., manual tasks in varying positions
