Retail Design and Sales Supervisor

Potvin Construction is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Design and Sales Supervisor to lead our retail showroom operations, support our cabinet design and sales teams, and elevate the customer experience across our Rockland and Nepean locations. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, excels at driving sales performance, and inspires teams to deliver exceptional service and design excellence.
Reporting to Millwork Design and Sales Manager, the Retail Design and Sales Supervisor will oversee daily showroom operations, manage retail design staff, support customer engagements, improve sales processes, and ensure consistent execution of Potvin's brand standards. This position blends people leadership, retail sales strategy, and hands‑on support
Primary responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and develop a high-performing retail design and sales team, providing coaching, feedback, and structured performance management.
Set clear expectations, sales goals, and accountability measures aligned with company objectives.
Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings, design reviews, sales pipeline reviews, and performance evaluations.
Foster a collaborative, respectful, and solutions‑focused team culture.
Support the onboarding and training of new retail design employees.
Ensure team members reflect Potvin's values, professionalism, and customer-first mindset.
Manage team schedules, sick days, holidays, weekly punch reports and timesheets. Ensuring a fair rolling shift schedule for the Ottawa showroom.
Sales Management & Customer Experience
Oversee day‑to‑day showroom operations in Rockland and Nepean, ensuring a welcoming and polished retail environment.
Monitor design pipelines, quote progression, and follow‑up practices to maximize conversion rates.
Support designers in complex sales opportunities, design challenges, or customer escalations.
Review and validate estimates, assist with pricing strategies, and ensure accuracy in client proposals.
Provide leadership presence during peak client hours and key project discussions.
Ensure design packages align with client needs, budgets, and Potvin's product capabilities.
Process, Workflow & Operational Excellence
Implement and refine sales processes that stabilize workflow, reduce delays, and improve communication.
Partner closely with internal departments, including Design Administration, Order Entry, Product Knowledge, Production & Installation, and Customer Service.
Develop and enforce best practices for follow-ups, scheduling, pipeline management, and showroom procedures.
Oversee the consistency of retail displays, product samples, and showroom layouts.
Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Monitor sales targets, KPIs, team metrics, design accuracy, and client satisfaction indicators.
Conduct regular analysis of quote‑to‑sale conversion, sales cycle timelines, and designer performance.
Identify gaps in performance and implement training, coaching, or process changes to address them.
Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to retail operations and client experience.
Review and sign off on expense reports
Monitor Accounts receivable monthly
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work with Marketing on retail promotions, in‑showroom events, and customer‑engagement activities.
Coordinate with HR regarding onboarding, performance issues, and staffing needs.
Partner with Senior Management to align showroom strategy with broader company goals.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in retail management, showroom leadership, or sales team management (kitchen, bath, cabinetry, millwork, or home improvement industries required).
Strong understanding of design‑to‑installation workflows, kitchen/bath design concepts, and custom cabinetry sales.
Experience leading high‑performing teams with proven success in sales coaching, process adherence, and performance improvement.
Demonstrated ability to analyze metrics and make data‑driven decisions.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and customer‑service skills.
Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and team needs simultaneously.
Technically proficient; familiarity with design or sales tools (2020, Cabinet Vision, , Microsoft Office Suite) is an asset.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly between Rockland and Nepean locations.
