What Is The Opportunity?

We are a trusted provider of end-to-end integrated Urban Transportation Solutions. From Light Rail Transit (LRT) to subways and commuter rail systems, Aecon's expansive resources for planning, engineering, procuring, building and commissioning large-scale infrastructure projects means we can handle all aspects of a transit project, from conception through operation. 

Aecon is proactively seeking a Manager, Cost Control to join the Urban Transportations Solutions group to support future dynamic, transit projects in Canada. What You'll Do Here:

Set project controls guidelines and responsibilities within a business unit or Project Execution Plan.Provide guidance to project controls and operations/project management teams to recognize emerging issues, leverage lessons learned and drive toolset/process adoption, ensure accuracy of key project metrics.Attend and contribute to Handover and Kick-Off meetings.Conducts detailed review and analysis of project performance control and reporting to understand and articulate key metrics and trending.Ensures that tracking and forecasting, progress monitoring, cost reporting meet specific project requirements.Ensures the preparation and updating of project cash flows and forecasting as required throughout the project life-cycle.Directly interfaces with management as necessary for cost control monitoring, analysis, and reporting.Performs cost data analysis and development.Performs performance monitoring and coordinates cost/schedule and quantity trends when required.Supervise the implementation of Work Breakdown and Project Coding Structures for control and integrity of work to be performed as defined by the contract.Oversees and supports project change management, including subcontractor claims, change requests, claims and dispute resolution.Identifies commercial risks and develops mitigation measures to ensure project control deliverables.Identify opportunities of Project Controls improvement for management review and consideration.Contribute to Risk Mitigation Plan.Hire, supervise, coach, develop and mentor project controls personnel (ie Project Controls Specialist, Lead, Cost Controller, Planner / Scheduler).Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging. 

What You Bring to The Team: 

Undergraduate degree in Business or Engineering, or equivalent.10+ years construction industry experience.Proven experience and ability in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, estimating and cost control.Experience in Quantity Surveying is seen as an asset.Strong knowledge of the "Earned Value Management" principles.Ability to produce, read and modify schedules and scheduling curves/reports.Proven ability to effectively lead project controls staff.Proven strong analytical skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly identify and articulate issues.Proven problem solver with sound judgment who accepts ownership and accountability.Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.Detail oriented and customer focused.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.Knowledge of SAP and required project controls software which may include Primavera, Hard Dollar, Accubid.Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
