Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Interim Director of Nursing (Director of Care) to lead our nursing team during a transitional period. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of resident care, ensure compliance with provincial regulations, and foster a culture of quality improvement and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to nursing and personal support staff in all aspects of resident care.
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario Regulation 246/22 and the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor nursing care plans and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage staffing plans, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee infection prevention and control, medication administration, and clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, residents, and families to ensure person-centered care.
  • Prepare and manage the nursing department budget.
  • Investigate and resolve resident care concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate records, including RAI-MDS assessments and Ministry reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience in long-term care or a similar healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of LTCHA, Regulation 79/10, and quality improvement practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Certification in Gerontology or Leadership in Nursing is an asset.
