Software Engineer

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join the Ads Engineering team and help advance the core capabilities of our Ads serving stack. This system powers advertisements across a range of Microsoft services, including Bing Search, MSN, , and shopping experiences in the Edge browser. Our serving stack is a high-scale, low-latency, geo-distributed system with numerous components—including large-scale machine learning inference for ad ranking, real-time bidding infrastructure, and other subsystems supporting diverse ad scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and ship infrastructure related features related to enable ads metrics alerting, diagnostics, debugging , root cause analysis and monitoring.
• Optimize data processing pipelines and evolve architectures to maximize performance and minimize cost.
• Improve services and data analysis infrastructure and integrate new business and system metrics.
• Deep dive into data to find key insights that drive technical design and feature roadmaps.
• Collaborate with partner teams in ads and Bing to implement diverse ads scenarios and capitalize on their innovations.
• Provide operational support for the product, addressing bugs and managing live site issues proactively.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ years experience in distributed system engineering and multi-threading programming.

Other Requirments:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of any other cloud service.
• Experience in shipping production quality code.
• 2+ years of experience in online advertising systems, information retrieval systems, web search systems, big data processing pipelines, database applications, large scale internet applications, and/or distributed systems required.
• Experience in Azure.
• 2+ years technical engineering experience with proficiency in C, C++ and C# coding languages.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $85,000 - CAD $166,800 per year.
