Job Title: Data Science Developer - Intermediate

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Client: Pubic Sector

Duration: 6+ Months Contract (1 Extension)

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum
    2–5 years of professional experience
    in
    data science, data analytics, or a related quantitative field
    (data engineering, machine learning, or business intelligence).
  • Proven experience in
    data analysis, visualization, and statistical modeling
    for real-world business or research use cases.
  • Demonstrated ability to
    clean, transform, and manage large datasets
    using
    Python, R, or SQL
    .
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying
    predictive models or machine learning solutions
    in production environments.
  • Strong proficiency in
    Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, seaborn)
    and
    SQL (complex queries, joins, aggregations, optimization)
    .
  • Experience designing and maintaining
    cloud-based data lakes and data pipelines
    using
    Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, or Data Lake
    .
  • Proficiency with
    Power BI
    for dashboarding and
    data storytelling
    to communicate analytical insights.
  • Familiarity with
    big data frameworks
    such as
    Apache Spark or Hadoop
    for large-scale data processing.

Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience

  • Exposure to
    Azure cloud ecosystem
    (Azure Storage, Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse).
  • Experience with
    ETL pipelines, APIs, or data workflow automation
    .
  • Working knowledge of
    machine learning evaluation methods
    (ROC-AUC, A/B testing, confusion matrix).
  • Experience with
    Tableau, Looker, or Streamlit
    for visualization and reporting.
  • Understanding of
    probability, statistics, and linear algebra
    with practical application in modeling.
  • Prior
    public sector or OPS
    experience following government IT standards and processes.
