About Capital One Canada.
For 30 years, we've been on a mission to change banking for good and build relationships by making credit accessible, simple, intuitive and rewarding. We want to help Canadians succeed with credit, because we believe in people — in our customers, in our associates, and in talent like you

About The Role
The Corporate Affairs team is looking for an energetic, creative and results-driven professional with experience driving integrated, multi-dimensional, external-facing communications and tech events. This role will support the technology team, building Capital One Canada's reputation as a technology leader and employer of choice for top Canadian tech talent.

This position requires strong project management skills, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale projects, and a solid understanding of the latest trends in event production, sponsorships, reputation building and top tier executive thought leadership.

*Your Responsibilities:
Exhibit deep understanding of the target audiences*

  • Work closely and engage with executives across Team Canada Tech and the broader technology organization to build trusted relationships
  • Identify themes, topics and content that will resonate with target audiences and meet strategic business objectives
  • Leverage data and insights to inform narratives and influence innovative and well-managed programming and communications content

Drive the development and execution of events

  • With the support of our PR agency, contribute to the overall event strategy and roadmap, working closely with key leaders to develop strategic plans for both brand awareness and talent recruitment
  • Develop program and project plans for events, creating workstreams and deliverables for key stakeholders and partners
  • Manage multiple workstreams during all event stages to ensure flawless execution
  • Draft and lead the development of effective communications materials to include strategic plans, project status updates and other communications documents for various audiences

Develop and lead the overall external Canadian Tech Communications thought leadership strategy

  • Create compelling presentation materials, including talking points, speaker notes, and presentation decks for all external events and speaking opportunities
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and subject matter experts from initial concept through final delivery of content
  • Leverage and integrate insights and content from the broader technology organization to ensure alignment with global messaging
  • Establish a cohesive, consistent narrative across all external Canadian Tech communications channels and activities
  • Partner closely with External Communications Manager to ensure cohesive execution and maximum impact
  • Manage external PR agency, overseeing budget and day-to-day communication

Embrace research, measurement and analytical thinking as a means to drive impact

  • Ensure all work is executed through a lens of strategic impact and measurement, leveraging the latest tools and technology to showcase how our work is driving business outcomes and brand awareness
  • Explore new and different ways of storytelling through event activations and sponsorships

*The successful candidate will demonstrate:*

  • Proven ability to work effectively with partners across all levels and functions, including peers and executives, building trust and bringing simplicity to complex subject matters
  • Creative, integrative problem-solving and structured thinking
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional projects
  • Self-motivation and an internal drive to seek constant improvement, regularly iterating on and optimizing processes and resources to do things better
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical talent and attention to detail
  • Excellent written, presentation and influencing skills

*Basic Qualifications:*

  • 5-7 years of project management experience, event planning and execution, communications and executive thought leadership support

*Preferred Qualifications:*

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Deep understanding and expertise in event management with a focus on achieving measurable results based on business intent/objectives
  • Experience working, partnering with and influencing multiple constituents and stakeholders (internal and external), including senior executives
