About the Opportunity

Plans and prepares meals according to established standards, procedures, recipes and menus, including preparing special meals to meet appropriate therapeutic menu modifications according to established guidelinesAssists with preparation of food for special functions (e.g. catering, theme dinners) to ensure service meets established standardsReports any recipe shortages, discrepancies or quality issues to the Executive Chef or supervisor in a timely mannerExecutes departmental policies, procedures and guidelines as a member of the divisional Food Services TeamExecutes food services for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner within a Supportive Living Lifestyle dining room in accordance to Brand StandardsExecutes food Services for special functions such as catering and theme dinners to ensure service meets established standardsConsistently ensures food quality, presentation, and service delivery meet established department standards; ensures meals are attractive, the correct temperature and portion size, and that service is timelyIntroduces self to new resident in the dining rooms as part of resident orientation / welcomeResponds to resident food service needs and expectations in accordance to service expectationsEffectively communicates and interacts with residents, family members, visitors and volunteers in a courteous and professional mannerAssists in the orientation of new Team Members to ensure standards are metClean and sanitize cooking station daily; maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment such as ovens, kettles, mixers, and others in order to maintain safety and sanitation in the kitchen to meet legislative and organizational standards; responsible for the clear and correct labeling of excess foodFollows disposal procedures according to established waste management guidelines for organics, paper, plastics, cans/bottles, non-recyclable material, etc.Additional duties as required

About You

In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:

A high-school diploma or a GEDCurrent food handlers' certificate (preferred)Minimum of 2 years of operational experience in a high-volume kitchen;Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentationAbility to read & follow detailed recipes/instructions as required and communicate in an efficient manner in a team-oriented settingAbility to provide a clear criminal record checkA passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
