Are you passionate about creating safe, nurturing, and inspiring environments for children to learn and grow? At the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario, we're looking for enthusiastic Registered Early Childhood Educators who bring heart, creativity, and professionalism to their work every day. As a Registered Early Childhood Educator, you'll be a key part of a dynamic team that supports children's development through play-based learning, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to health and safety. This Full-Time position within the Association is at various locations throughout the City of Sudbury.

START DATE: December 29, 2025

LOCATION: Sudbury

RATE OF PAY: $27.10 per hour

*This position includes the Ministry of Education Wage Enhancement Grant (WEG) of up to an additional $2.00/hour for qualifying roles within a licensed child care program at the YMCA 

HOURS: 40 hours per week

What You'll Bring to the Role

Early Childhood Education Diploma (two- or three-year program) *for education completed outside of Canada, applicants are asked to submit an educational evaluation (WES, Icas, etc.) with their applicationMembership with the College of Early Childhood Educators in good standingMinimum of two (2) years working with children and/or youthCurrent Standard First Aid with Infant and Child CPR (Level C) *Recognized by the WSIBSolid knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsCertification in YMCA Playing to Learn and Healthy Child Development is an assetHealth Assessment from Medical Professional and Immunizations RecordCurrent and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening(dated within the last 6 months) 

What You'll Be Doing

Child Supervision & Programming

Provide attentive, compassionate supervision to ensure each child's health, safety, and well-beingKeep accurate attendance records and conduct regular head counts - always know your numbers Plan and deliver engaging educational programming using YMCA curricula:
YMCA Playing to Learn, A Place to Connect, Zen-er-gy, and Healthy Childhood DevelopmentTrack children's development through documentation and open communication with families and community partnersFollow YMCA policies and the Child Care & Early Years Act (CCEYA), along with guidelines from Public Health, Fire Department, and other agencies
Environmental Safety & Maintenance

Conduct daily safety scans of indoor and outdoor spaces before and after programmingEnsure all areas are clean, organized, and safe for children and staffSanitize toys, equipment, and furnishings according to YMCA and Public Health standardsAdapt the physical environment to meet the needs of all children, prioritizing safety and inclusionUphold legal responsibilities under the Child & Family Services Act, including the Duty to Report 
Administrative Duties & Professional Development

Record live attendance and ensure it matches the number of children in your careAttend monthly team meetings and participate in ongoing professional developmentCollaborate with your supervisor on goal setting and performance reviewsComplete required documentation for incidents, health and safety, and child developmentUse Weemarkable to share daily updates with familiesSafely store confidential records and dataSupport the team with other duties as assigned
