Position Overview

We are looking for a driven and passionate Paid Strength & Conditioning Intern to join our growing team. This opportunity is ideal for:

  • Kinesiology students or recent graduates seeking practical experience, or
  • Personal trainers who want to transition into the athletic performance and sports field.

You'll receive hands-on mentorship, work directly with motivated athletes, and gain valuable coaching skills in a high-performance setting.

Hours and Structure

  • This position includes a blend of volunteer and paid hours:
  • Volunteer Hours: Initial shadowing, mentorship, and education sessions to build coaching confidence (approx. 5–10 hours/week for first 4–6 weeks).
  • Paid Hours: Progress into leading and assisting training sessions (approx. 10–20 hours/week, based on experience and facility needs).
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate school or other work commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and coach small group and private training sessions (youth, teen, and adult athletes)
  • Support athlete assessments, combine testing, and performance tracking
  • Deliver workouts based on our structured programming system and philosophy
  • Maintain a safe, motivating, and high-energy environment for athletes
  • Communicate clearly with athletes, parents, and fellow staff members
  • Assist with facility maintenance and equipment organization
  • Participate in internal education sessions and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or completed a degree/diploma in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field
  • OR Certified Personal Trainer (looking to expand into athlete development)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to complete prior to start date)
  • Strong communication skills, professionalism, and passion for coaching
  • Open-minded, coachable, and eager to learn from experienced staff
  • Ability to work effectively with athletes of all ages and ability levels

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Previous coaching or internship experience in a performance or sports setting
  • Strength & Conditioning Certification (CSCS, NCCP, or equivalent)
  • Former athlete or experience in competitive sports
  • Familiarity with athlete testing tools or performance tracking software
