Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Mechanical Designer to join our team. In this role, you will support the design and development of mechanical systems and components for our automated agricultural equipment. You will work closely with production, and operations teams to translate concepts into practical, manufacturable designs and support continuous product improvement.

You'll spend time on the following:

  • Designing mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using Solidworks.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Supporting prototyping, testing, and iteration of new and existing designs.
  • Working with the production team to ensure designs are manufacturable, practical, and cost-effective.
  • Updating designs based on testing results, field feedback, and production constraints.
  • Assisting with design documentation, specifications, and revision control.
  • Supporting troubleshooting of mechanical issues on existing products.
  • Collaborating with electrical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Contributing ideas for design improvements, simplification, and reliability.

Here's what we are looking for:

  • Experience in mechanical design, drafting, or engineering support roles.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements and turn them into clear, buildable designs.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small team.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage drawings, revisions, and documentation.

Bonus points if…

  • You have experience designing for manufacturing, assembly, or field use.
  • You have worked in agriculture, manufacturing, robotics, or industrial equipment.
  • You are familiar with sheet metal, welded structures, fabric components, or moving assemblies.
  • You have hands-on shop or fabrication experience.
  • You are bilingual (English/French).

More Details

  • Part-time (minimum 20 hrs/week)
  • In-person at our Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes workshop, with some flexibility

  • Successful candidates will be remunerated based on skills and experience

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
