YOUR DAY TO DAY:We are seeking a Manager, Operations Engineering to lead the development, optimization, and sustainment of manufacturing processes in support of New Product Introduction (NPI) and ongoing production. This role partners closely with Design Engineering, Quality, and Operations to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient manufacturing solutions, while driving continuous improvement, yield performance, and operational excellence.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR/TO:Leadership & Project Execution
- Lead and participate in multiple NPI and sustaining engineering projects, managing both small- and large-scale initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on support to resolve complex system-level manufacturing issues.
- Act as a key escalation point for troubleshooting, containment, and corrective actions.
- Lead cross-functional "tiger teams" to address quality, yield, and process challenges.
- Contribute to and execute the Operations Engineering technology and capital roadmap.
Manufacturing Process Development & Support
- Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes, including Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
- Translate product and drawing specifications into robust manufacturing procedures and work instructions.
- Author and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, SPC plans, tooling specifications, test procedures, and First Pass Approval (FPA) requirements.
- Support documentation updates, including assembly procedures, work instructions, and MES authoring.
- Review and implement engineering change requests from design and production teams.
Quality, Yield & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyze hours per unit, first-pass yield and rolling yield metrics; drive corrective actions to improve performance.
- Identify failure trends and systemic issues; conduct 8D root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and waste reduction methodologies.
- Apply principles of safety, ergonomics, design for manufacturability, and cellular manufacturing.
- Utilize tools such as SPC, 5S, Point of Use, and lessons learned to stabilize and optimize processes.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with Design Engineering to translate new requirements into manufacturable and testable solutions.
- Collaborate across Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to meet short- and long-term objectives.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Foster strong professional relationships and promote a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a project-based manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership, accountability, self-motivation, and adaptability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a process-focused mindset.
- Clear and concise technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lead cross-functional discussions that drive alignment and results.
- High attention to detail; well organized and goal oriented.
- Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- AS9100 knowledge and experience is an asset.
- Experience with SolidWorks, Composer, and AutoCAD is an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a 3-year College diploma with relevant experience in electro-mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing engineering role within a high-tech environment.
- Green Belt certification or equivalent Lean manufacturing experience.
- PMP designation is an asset.
- P. Eng designation is an asset.
- Must be able to meet CGP requirements
