We are a rapidly grown company in the marine industry with a strong presence in the Canadian shipbuilding sector and ambitions to expand further across North America. We are now looking to strengthen our team in North Vancouver by hiring Detail Designers for exciting shipbuilding projects in multiple disciplines, including:

  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Structural
  • Outfitting

Job description

As a Detail Designer, you will be responsible for creating and updating detailed drawings, calculations, and other documentation to ensure designs comply with class regulations and customer requirements. You will support the development of 3D CAD models, either directly or indirectly, and collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines.

This role is suitable for individuals with varying levels of experience, depending on project scope and complexity. You may also be involved in coordination and/or project management tasks on larger projects. The salary for this position ranges from CAD 75,000 to 100,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

What we expect from you

  • Experience in the shipbuilding industry. Applicants with 5+ years of experience are preferred, but we're committed to supporting the development of candidates through training if they lack certain skills or experience.
  • We expect a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or engineering technology, a Diploma in Naval Architecture, or similar, but we primarily value candidates with the right attitude.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng or EIT.) status is considered a great asset but not mandatory.
  • Experience in ship construction, production supervision and commissioning is valued greatly.
  • Experience from different design software such Cadmatic, Aveva, Napa or similar is preferred.
  • We operate in a hybrid work model but also appreciate your willingness to be present in our North Vancouver office whenever appropriate.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • An active approach and problem-solving ability.
  • Legal authorization to work in British Columbia.
